After a welcome from the host university and from the organizing committee, the opening round table discussion was dedicated to the topic Service and Technologies for Active Aging. Several invited speakers discussed the current status and advances from their point of view with the audience. After that, the first session ‘ICT for health care’ presented four research papers showing how ICT is supporting health care. This session was followed by a poster session. The poster session was opening the floor also to very young researchers and preliminary research ideas. Many interesting discussions started in this session. Several have been maintained during the lunch break. In the afternoon, the first session ‘Biometric data in automotive and home applications’ show new approached beyond traditionally limited research borders, while the last session was dedicated to deeper investigation to the theme of ‘Embedded systems for biometric data analysis’. Both sessions mentioned provided space for young researchers as well. The second day started with the well investigated area of ‘Biometric data analysis: EMG and ECG’. Several PhD students demonstrated their approaches and recent achievements. The last session entitled ‘ICT for gait analysis’ again demonstrated the strengths of the presented work with respect to the international state of the art in this field and the advancements achieved. 

The contributions have been peer-reviewed by an international program committee representing eleven countries. The selected papers had been presented to more than 50 registered participants onsite and it was open to students interested in learning about mBiDA contributions. In parallel, the participating main partners from Germany and Italy have been connected via video stream, opening the event to even more students, without having the need to travel. The event was also a key enabler to intensify the running cooperation between the partners on different levels like ERASMUS, PhD-students and cooperative PhD activities.
