The central idea is simple but powerful:&nbsp;<span class=\"s1\">one 3D sensor per room<\/span>&nbsp;continuously detects relevant events and long-term behavioral patterns directly in the room, enabling actionable alerts and trend insights\u2014without relying on wearable devices or continuous manual rounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br><strong>The challenge the project addresses<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Across the ABH region, care organizations face a converging set of pressures: severe staff shortages, the need for frequent safety checks, high shares of non-patient-facing administrative work, and significant psychological strain on professionals\u2014while avoidable adverse events (e.g., falls, pressure ulcers, delirium-related incidents) drive escalating costs. CareVolutionAI responds to this situation by shifting routine monitoring and documentation-heavy \u201ccontrol work\u201d toward an automated, clinically meaningful digital assistance layer\u2014so professionals can focus more time on direct care and human interaction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br><strong>What CareVolutionAI builds and why it is different<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">At the technical core is an established smart-room sensing platform where&nbsp;<strong>fall detection and fall prevention<\/strong>&nbsp;are already proven in practice, reducing implementation risk. The project extends this baseline with new AI modules tailored to real care workflows and clinical needs, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Pressure ulcer (decubitus) prevention<\/strong>, derived from long-term in-bed mobility patterns<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Cognitive disturbances and dementia-related behaviors<\/strong>, inferred from unusual room behavior patterns<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Delirium indicators<\/strong>, including motor restlessness and atypical nighttime activity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Sleep-related complaints<\/strong>, enabling early recognition of changes relevant for care planning<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">A key differentiator is the project\u2019s&nbsp;<strong>multi-level aggregation concept<\/strong>: insights are not only produced for individual rooms and residents, but are also aggregated (anonymized) to ward, facility, and ultimately&nbsp;<strong>regional and country levels<\/strong>, allowing care providers and decision-makers to identify trends, benchmark practices, and support evidence-based resource planning across borders. This \u201cfrom room to region\u201d approach is explicitly designed as a pioneering step for the ABH region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The &#8220;CareVolutionAI&#8221; project is funded by the Interreg Alpenrhein-Bodensee-Hochrhein program (www.interreg.org) with no.
